Territory & Camp

Cherryclan is located in the Nekko Forest and its most heavily-patrolled territory is near the lake, which contains the cherry trees that gave the clan its name. Farther from the lake, most trees are deciduous and much of the landscape is mountainous. Humans occasionally wander into the territory but the clan has ways to stay out of sight.

Cherryclan's camp is surrounded by trees and brush. All dens are beneath the roots of cherry trees and are continually being enlarged. The enlargement is a seasons-long project since cats are not suited to digging. During the summer, most cats will sleep outside with the exception of the queens, their kits, and the elders. The fresh-kill pile is in the center of camp and apprentices and younger warriors are tasked to clear out rot. The Basking Log, a log near the warriors' den, is in the perfect position to catch sunlight so many cats will lie on it during the day.

The leaders' den is beneath the roots of the largest cherry tree directly across from the entrance and is large enough to hold four cats at a time. To its right is the healers' den, which is pitted with holes that hold various substances including herbs, honey, and water. Quarantined patients are the only ones to sleep here; healers will often sleep outside or in the warriors' den. The nursery is to the right of the healers' den and rarely needs to hold more than four queens at a time, although the den is expanded every time it empties. To the right of the nursery and close to the entrance is the warriors' den.

To the left of the leaders' den is the elders' den, which is used by apprentices and warriors when invited or when the den is empty. The apprentices' den is to the left of the elders' den and while some younger cats complain about its proximity, seeing it as a clever way to remind them of their duties, the true reason is the next den to the left: the senior warriors' den, exclusive to cats over 70 moons and those they invite. The position of the warriors' dens allows them to be closer to the entrance and therefore capable of defending the camp.
