Gold and Iron was founded in the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse by George Ruben, a former police officer. He headed for Lake Tahoe with the clothes on his back, a rifle, and the hope that his family would make it there safely. He attracted several other people but a couple of years later, he fell through a hole between universes to land in a place filled with magic but much safer than the world they had come from. His family and friends gathered, they set out to build a new society and refuge for those without a home.
